Background notes to Song of Job
Job was an honest and faithful person who suffered greatly but came through it all despite all his misfortunes. He was able to see and acknowledge his own failings and realise the greatness and the might of a Divine Love that saved him and ‘set him on a rock’. It ‘rained’ on Job, but his stubborn persistence and the resilient faith coupled with the grace of God touched his life and he was restored to health and happiness. I’ve always been attracted to this Old Testament figure and story and my ‘Song of Job’ is called ‘And it rained’.
